+ Meet the managerLaura : Anchorstone's Mananger

Hello, My name is Hongdi Liu, staff know me as Laura, the Registered Manager here at Anchorstone. It is my heartfelt belief that a warm, family-like atmosphere is the foundation of exceptional care, and I am dedicated to fostering that every single day.

My own journey in healthcare spans 32 years, beginning with 12 years as a Registered Nurse in a general hospital in China, which gave me a strong clinical foundation. I’ve had the honour of being part of the Anchorstone family since 2005. For nearly two decades, I’ve helped shape our person-centred ethos, and developing a deep understanding of our residents, our wonderful team, and our commitment to ‘Your Life, Your Way.’ This made it a natural and proud step to become the Registered Manager in 2023.

As a Level 5 Leader in Adult Care, I focus on balancing the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence with the creation of a relaxed, homely environment. I believe true quality care flourishes when residents feel truly at home and when our dedicated team feels empowered and supported. My door is always open—to listen, to guide, and to ensure every individual’s needs and choices are honoured.

It is my privilege to steward our promise to provide specialist dementia care that is both nurturing and enriching. My guiding mission is to ensure Anchorstone remains a place where life is lived with joy, dignity, and deep connection. I look forward to welcoming you.

+ More than care – a place to belongWhat our customers say

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We listen to your needs and tailor our services to meet them.

My mother became a resident at the end of November 2022 after a hospital stay due to medical care needs that could no longer be provided at her home.

The nursing home is always clean and tidy and my mother, after a short period of adjustment, settled in and is happy and well cared for there.

The staff are very welcoming and interact with my mother which keeps her socially active between visitors, this is very beneficial for her as she is not able to move around.
Andrew C (Son of Resident)
My dad went in December to anchorstone after 4 weeks in hospital. He is so much happier since he's been there. All the nurses and managers are extremely polite friendly and attentive.

We are very pleased with the service received.
Dave H (Son of Resident)
My mum was initially taken in for respite, but due to circumstances she has now become residential. Since the very beginning she has settled in so well, every single member of staff is fantastic with her. This home is so full of love and kindness it's a pleasure visiting mum here. The communication is great, every time we walk in door any member of staff will let us know mums whereabouts and her mood of the day.

Cannot recommend this home enough!
A C (Daughter of Resident)
I have nothing but favourable things to say regarding Anchorstone and its staff. I live far, far away and consequently cannot visit as often as I may wish. The team always accommodate me when I am able to visit. The care, patience and attention they offer to residents never ceases to impress me. Being completely honest, I recognise that I could never reach the standards they achieve in this regard. When I phone, I am always greeted in a welcoming manner with the current situation always clearly outlined to me. I am grateful to all.
A P (Son of Resident)
These people are the best carers I have ever encountered. My wife has been in a different Care Home and my mother was in another different Nursing Care Home so I speak from experience and the staff at Anchorstone far exceed the quality of care the other two provided (one of them has previously been given a Care Home of The Year award). Above all my wife is very happy here. I was recently asked to give suggestions as to any improvements they could make and I couldn't think of any. They are also very good at keeping me informed about any changes in my Wife's condition which being Dementia unfortunately can only progress.
David S (Husband of Resident)
My mother has been a resident for approx 4 years at Anchorstone.
Whenever I visit she always looks well-presented and appears very settled and happy.

I feel that the staff interact extremely well with her. I'm aware my mother can be a little stubborn at times but from speaking with staff they do not have any concerns with her management when delivering her care. I cannot praise all the staff for the wonderful care that they deliver and as I live very far away so my visits are infrequent. I feel very reassured knowing my mother is happy within Anchorstone N/H in their very well-run home and they are very good at maintaining communication with me.
